“Tabing Ilog” is a youth-oriented Sunday afternoon television drama series as helmed by Malu Sevilla which aired on ABS-CBN for more than four years, from 1999 to the early 2000s. Topbilled by John Lloyd Cruz as Rovic or Ronaldo Victor Mercado, Kaye Abad, Paula Peralejo, Patrick Garcia, Jodi Sta. Maria, Paolo Contis, Desiree del Valle and Baron Geisler .The story circulates on their friendship as they find their paths in finding new friends. What has happened to the original cast?

Kaye Abad

John Lloyd’s original “Tabing Ilog” girlfriend named Eds or Ponyang, Epifania delos Santos-Mercado in reel life, is back in the small screen as Guji Lorenzana’s girlfriend in “Precious Hearts Romances presents Bud Brothers.” Kaye never left showbiz. She was an on-and-off actress in between being Parokya ni Edgar’s lead vocalist Chito Miranda’s girlfriend and helping in her parents’ school in Cavite. In the “Bud Brothers’” “Pepper’s Roses,” she is the fantasy show writer Pepper who asks her serious childhood friend Rei (Guji) to help her mend their fathers’ differences. They are directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina from the screenplay of Jose Javier Reyes based.

Paolo Contis as Badong or Salvador Magtibay is now a GMA contract star, the talent of Lolit Solis. After Isabel Oli, he’s now the boyfriend of EB Babes Dancer Lian Paz.

Patrick Garcia

Patrick Garcia as James or Jaime Collantes is now a GMA contract star. Patrick’s romantic relationship with Jennylyn Mercado produced a son named Baby Alex Jazz who he had not seen because of his falling off with ex-girlfriend Jen. He now has a drama series entitled “Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Lahat Sa Akin” with Glaiza de Castro.

Paula Peralejo as Anne or Angela de Guzman opted to give up showbiz as her career did not take off after “Tabing Ilog.” She decided to be a full-time student and recently graduated at the University of the Philippines as Magna Cum Laude.

Jodi Sta. Maria

Jodi Sta. Maria as George or Georgina Fuentebella is still with ABS-CBN, still signed up with Star Magic. She’s married to Pampi Lacson, Jr., the son of Sen. Panfilo Lacson. They have a son nicknamed Thirdy. Aside from appearing in ABS-CBN drama series, she appears from time to time in “Maalaala Mo Kaya.” Having a happy married life, she’s endorsing brand of milk with Claudine Barretto and Carmina Villaroel with their respective child.

Desiree del Valle as Corrinne Ledesma moved to VIVA and is now doing freelance work. She now appears in “May Bukas Pa” and TV5’s “Midnight DJ.” The buzz is she had broken off with boyfriend of two years Vhong Navarro.

Baron Geisler

Baron Geisler as Fonzy or Alfonso Ledesma has recently signed up with Maryo delos Reyes as manager. He turned out a competent actor, winning Best Actor awards for “Jay” which he co-produced. But his drinking problem caused him to be thrown out by Big Brother from “Pinoy Big Brother” house and charged alleged sexual offenses by the daughter of William Martinez and co-PBB Housemate Yayo Aguila and GMA artist Yasmien Kurdi.
